The historic city center of Popayan is among the most beautiful and best preserved colonial towns in Colombia. Home to the Crown of the Andes. All houses in the historic center have whitewashed walls around the grand main square. The riding there is curvy, scenic and fun. We will also visit the Guambiano Indians in Silvia and the all black slave descendent village of Suarez.

A visit to Silvia is something special. This indigenous villages is Guambiano Indian territory and the tribes colourful outfits are unique.

95% pavement, up to 5% on gravel driveways or possible road construction detours. Hundreds of curves and extremely scenic well maintained roads. Rookie to expert riders and couples are very welcome on this tour. We stay in mid- & high-range hotels. We always opt for the best option available – clean, safe and practical location. Temperatures can vary between 12 to 40°C (53.6 F to 104°F). Temperatures can drop for a short period going over the mountains passes. It is recommended to ride with ventilated riding gear. A pull over rain suite is a good idea to carry against mountain temperatures and possible short rain showers that can occur year round.

DAY 1

We meet at the Motolombia facility in Cali at 8:00 AM. After sorting out paperwork and bike hand-over we make our way South through sugar cane plantations in the Cauca Valley. About 50 km south of Cali we head into the mountains on a beautiful curvy highway. We arrive early afternoon to Popayan (the white walled city) in time to check out the sites of the city and surrounding areas.

DAY 2

Popayan to Silvia to Cali – The return trip to Cali offer some nice sections of dirt road in the mountains. This is Guambiano indian territory and we’ll see many locals working the fields in their traditional colorful clothing. We’ll also go through coffee growing Morales and visit all black village Suarez before making it back to Cali in the late Afternoon.
